It’s been a wild few weeks lately, hasn’t it? Since spending the majority of my days inside, I’ve taken to really revamping my beauty routine. I’ve been creating a lot of home made face and hair masks, moisturizing around the clock and repairing my hair and nails.

With nowhere to go, now is the perfect time to commit to a proper beauty care routine. Today I’m sharing my beauty routine to get your skin and hair feeling better than ever.

Give Your Hair and Skin a Break

Since this quarantine began, I’ve been giving my hair and skin a bit of a break. Most of my days are make-up and curling iron free. When I do get dressed up, it’s on designated days for shooting content. Having nowhere to go doesn’t have to be a bad thing. It feels amazing to not have to wear or take off makeup at the end of the day! My skin feels softer and so much less dry.

I also let my hair dry naturally and don’t use any heating products on my off days (which, let’s face it- are most days in the week). Let your skin breathe, and give your hair a well deserved break while in isolation.

Make a Homemade Face Mask

I absolutely love making homemade face masks at home. My favourite mask to make is an egg yolk, honey and olive oil mask. I have dry skin, so this combination is really moisturizing and helps me get a healthy, beautiful glow. If you’re looking to reduce pores and tighten up your skin, swap the egg yolk for egg whites.

Invest in Hyaluronic Acid Serum

I’ve just recently discovered hyaluronic acid serum and am so glad that I did! Hyaluronic acid is a powerful skincare ingredient that can help retain moisture without making it oily. To stop our skin from aging, the more moisture, the better. I also love this product from Yeouth Skincare* because it doesn’t make my skin oily, but gives it that gorgeous glow we all deserve.

Wear SPF Moisturizer

This is the best piece of advice my beautician gave me. Always, always wear a moisturizer that has SPF already in it. It’s important to protect your skin from sun damage, and SPF is the best way to do that. I use a tinted SPF moisturizer from Alumier which always

Exfoliate Your Skin

Up until only a few months ago, I didn’t even really know what exfoliating my skin meant. After receiving a facial skin treatment, my beautician taught me of the importance of exfoliating your skin. Now, I exfoliate as often as needed. Exfoliating helps to speed up your skin’s process of removing dead skin and helping it look younger. Make sure to avoid scrubs which have microplastic beads- opt out for a more gentle alternative. I use Alumier’s Bright & Clear Solution.

Repair Your Hair

If you have dyed hair, or simply struggle with damaged hair, make sure to practice weekly hair treatments. I treat my hair using the entire Olaplex line since my hair is blonde and has a lot of breakage. The Olaplex line can be pricey, so you may want to look into other hair treatments to use. Leave in hair treatments are a great investment and help add moisture to your hair. I would recommend asking your hairdresser, as they’ll recommend you the best products available.

I also like to use argan oil and homemade hair masks. The honey and milk hair mask is my favourite for helping with dry hair and split ends.

So far, I’ve noticed such a difference in my skin from taking a break from makeup and caring for it daily. I also feel my hair is slowly becoming less dry and I’ve noticed a lot less breakage.
