Your task is not to seek for love, but merely to seek and find all the barriers within yourself that you have built against it” – Rumi

If you, like me, are looking to set yourself on a new chapter in life and on a path towards a positive lifestyle that embraces self-love as well as self-acceptance- then welcome and congratulations! Making a conscious effort to change your life is the first step toward creating an actual change.

Soon changes will start to enter your life from every direction- they will come naturally and will only make a difference if you choose to let them. If you are ready to embrace these changes and wish to start a brand new chapter in your life, here are some tips that I’ve followed through my own self journey.

Write Down Your Goals

Think about what it is that you want to achieve. It could be independence, to get a certain job, to move out from home- big or small, each goal is just as important as the next. It’s important to be aware of your goals so that you can stay focused and continue to remind yourself of what it is you are working for. A  new chapter in life means a whole lot of changes, new beginnings, and endings. Your goals should reflect those changes and new beginnings you’re working to start!

Make A Plan

Now that you know what you’d like to change in your life and what you wish to achieve, make a plan that can help you get closer to your goals daily. What small things can you start doing each day that will bring you closer to this new chapter? What are some bigger steps to follow over time that can help make your goals a reality? Create a plan that inspires you, and you’ll feel much more confident on the path that you’re following!

Let Go Of The Negative

If there are things that you do that make you unhappy or people you surround yourself with who no longer help you grow- let go of them. Certain habits like overeating, partying or staying in bed feeling hopeless keep you feeling down, and a positive lifestyle has no room for them. If you surround yourself with people who do not make you feel good about yourself, it’s also time to let them go and make room for those who can bring positivity to your life.

Embrace Your Past Mistakes

Sometimes, we spend so much time thinking about our past mistakes and failures that we forget what lies ahead of us. Understand that your mistakes have made you stronger and brought you to where you are now- trying to make a better future for yourself! That’s a great accomplishment on your own, and you should never let your failures overshadow the positive aspects of your life and the potential you have within yourself. Find that potential, and hold on to it.
